Anna’s grandfather, and James’s great grandfather, grew up in the East London ‘Pubs’ business, but he preferred when young to plough with the heavy horses he loved in Gloucestershire.

Then, based on his reputation as a long-distance ‘Biker’, he joined the RAF and flew sorties in bi-planes over the 1930’s Middle East and (later) in India.

Renowned as an athlete, high diver, and ballroom dancer (we have his awards and shiny shoes) he fortunately married in 1944, and all else is history. He would have been puzzled, but intrigued, by all this.
